Cinema always influences on the society and by virtue of it affects to every spectrum of art. A cinema released, four decades ago, called Sholay has influenced around two generations in India where one could remember all the characters. But the background behind has really created the essence for the cinema.
Architecture is conceived as a frozen set where cinema talks about dynamic sets, talking about Sholay in terms of a set it evolves around the boulders of Ramgarh placed near Bengaluru.
While theorizing this project we thought of a frozen identity of a set of cinema and the character of the boulder created the identity for this place where these boulders standing in nature since ages creating unique identity in people. While working on the subject of identity and architecture we thought of demonstrating such ideas through the typology of hospital.
This emerges a question, what will be an identity of human habitat influenced by such a cinematic frozen identity of a set?
As client approached us to design a hospital for orthopedics where we thought of creating a fractured monolithic identity of architecture where the building designed shows resemblance to the character of a boulder in memory.
