MUSHROOM HOUSE. | 2015 | RESIDENTIAL

This house is situated in Kopargaon. Client approached us to design a house and briefed us to design a building with parking on ground and residence on top of it. Present generic typology of residences evolving with parking on ground and residence on top. While finding the origin of such generic essence we realized the principles of Corbusier like pilotis, free planning has affected and gave rise to machinist expression to the building, this left next generation of architecture to live in the dichotomy of cultural buildings and the machine.

Theorizing this house a thematic understanding of such typology was questioned. Cultural buildings like Wada (old buildings) are always evolved one, adhering to the environment around. They give thematically biophilic essence in buildings where they are influenced by natural phenomena around. Thus, architecture at this place looked as a natural phenomenon. While rejecting the identity of a pilotis, the building based on core has evolved. It shows its appearance like a mushroom, which buds during monsoons and creates a shelter for many creatures. This building appears like standing on stem giving free ground for flow.
